A Singer-Songwriter Fusing Rock, Folk, and Soul

Ignacio Pagani is a singer-songwriter from Buenos Aires, Argentina, whose music captures the essence of national and international rock from the ’80s and ’90s. He began his artistic career in 2010 with a debut LP in English produced by Albert Durig. After years of evolution and experimentation, he changed his artistic profile in 2019, embracing Spanish with his EP «Fuego en el Mar.» This project marked a turning point in his career, showcasing a new side more connected to his identity and roots. The production of this EP involved collaboration with Alex Fank and was presented in a sold-out show at La Tangente, solidifying his presence in the Argentine music scene.

In 2020, Ignacio released «Equinoccio,» an album produced by Mateo Rodo and mastered by Daniel Ovie. This work was successfully presented at La Tangente and later captured in his first live album, «Equinoccio Live.» His evolution continued in 2023 with the release of a series of singles that culminated in his latest EP, «Luces de Sants.» In this work, Ignacio explores a unique fusion of folk, rock, and soul, maintaining his connection to the rich tradition of Argentine rock while incorporating modern elements that enrich his artistic expression.

Defining the Greatness of ‘Luces de Sants’

Working on the mix for «Luces de Sants» was an exciting and creative experience. From the start, the goal was to define the unique character of Ignacio Pagani’s music, respecting his connection to the tradition of Argentine rock while adding the freshness of his contemporary approach. Together with Kevin Galeano, who co-produced the EP, we immersed ourselves in the four tracks, highlighting the essential elements that brought the project to life. The collaboration with Argentine singer Lucila Ruiu on «Lo siento» added a special layer of emotion, while songs like «Igual que ayer» and «Siempre es Verano» required an approach that captured the power of electric guitars and the impact of the drums.

My approach to the mix was to preserve the spaciousness and grandeur of the tracks, ensuring that each instrument had its own place within the sonic spectrum. At the same time, I aimed to maintain Ignacio’s characteristic punch, giving prominence to iconic sounds like the bandoneon and the urban pop elements. On «Faro,» my favorite track from the EP, I focused on highlighting the vocal subtleties and the dynamism of the arrangements, achieving a balanced mix that conveys the depth and authenticity of his music. The experience was enriching, allowing me to explore new sonic dimensions while enhancing Ignacio’s artistic essence.
